Project Description

House extension Kommetjie

This house extension in Kommetjie involved a full timber rebuild designed to expand the living space while maintaining a light, natural aesthetic that complements the coastal surroundings. The structure was carefully constructed using H3-treated pine, selected for its strength, durability, and resistance to moisture—ideal for the local climate.

The framework was engineered to provide a solid and stable base, with all structural components securely fixed and aligned to ensure longevity. The roofing structure was designed in a pergola-style layout, featuring exposed spruce beams that create an open, architectural look while adding warmth and character to the extension. This design not only enhances visual appeal but also allows for a bright, airy feel within the space.

To ensure year-round comfort, the timber walls were properly insulated, improving thermal efficiency and interior comfort. The exterior was then professionally clad with Nutec cladding, offering a clean, modern finish with excellent durability and low maintenance requirements. The completed extension seamlessly blends structural integrity, thoughtful design, and quality materials to create a functional and visually striking addition to the home.
