Project overview
A custom balcony deck and staircase for a private guest suite in Franschhoek, designed to improve function and the guest experience. The elevated deck provides an outdoor area to relax and take in views, with the stair giving access to the garden.
The work
What was built
The balcony deck uses H3-treated pine decking boards on pressure-treated structural pine beams and joists, with galvanized brackets and coach screws and stainless-steel screws through the decking. The staircase has stringers, risers and matching pine treads. The completed deck and stair were finished with a teak sealant.
