Introduction
This public seating on Kruskal Avenue in Bellville was designed as a durable installation for a high-traffic urban environment, combining robust structure with natural timber.
The work
The project
The project file records cast in-situ concrete columns, reinforced internally with rebar; hot-dip galvanized angle iron, custom-bent to 90 degrees and shaped to a radius to support the seating surface; and a Garapa timber seating surface, chosen in the record for durability, density and weathering resistance against the industrial steel and concrete.

The approach
This is civic seating, not a private deck. Related commercial timber includes the Harley-Davidson CBD platform.
